Pimp The Livingroom Part II

If you haven't read the first part maybe you should here.

This second part I would show you some collages from from each new parts.

Bookcase Collage

This part is the bookcase part, they are all Billy Bookcases. There are three of them standing next to each other and on the right side, there's one small dvd/cd rack which what IKEA claimed to be the bestfriend of Billy with the name Benno. Yes you could put them up side by side, mix and match them according to your space but the thing is, since Benno is made for dvd/cd and not for books, so they weren't as deep as Billy, so you had to put them forward with a little hollow space in the back and YES don't forget that it's hollow there so don't try to put anything in the back like what I almost did :s

We also added a door to the middle Billy so the cameras inside it would be protected againts dust and wind (errr forget the wind part) and it was
BILLY BYOM (at this stage I'm amazed with all the IKEA names). Oh and we found this new Billy accecories where you could put it inside Billy and tada there would be two story space to display your nice stuff in our case old cameras which has been collected by Peter for some time now.....err I wish we got stuff like crystal swarovski or overly priced hand painted china there :s (haha I got you there, I would never in 10 million years collect such stuff)

If Peter collects old cameras then I also have other collection as you can see the photo of books on the top right are all my cooking and baking books (I say books eh don't get me started on magazines) that I have collected over the years I have been living here. I have bought most of them myself but some were also generous gifts from my friends both from real world and cyber world. I'm still wishing one day to bring all my cooking and baking books from Indonesia to Holland.

The brown little case thing was IKEA FIRA, we use it to hide all those small stationeries, stamps, postcards, cards etc. Then I customized it a bit by putting these
HEMA flowers stickers. It looked a little bit different from the original right?
To hide all those mundane papers and more administration sh*t we bought some boxes. The big checked boxes were IKEA LINGO, and IKEA KASSET to keep all the files neatly, then the smaller white and blue boxes were from HEMA.

And yes I did measure them all so there wouldn't be any nasty surprised later that it wouldn't fit in the Billy.

Oma Kastje

This cupboard we call it Oma kaastje, because we sort of inherited it from Peter's oma when she passed away almost a year ago. This was actually a IKEA LEKSVIK in brown that we (err ok not we just Peter) painted white to coordinate with the rest of the furniture.
If you may ask what is it with me and my white color furniture obsession. I somehow don't have the answer but as far as I remember I have always liked white furniture. Because then it's like a white canvas, you could put colors and things on top of it. There was a point when my parents wanted to buy new furnitures for their house and I got to get new cupboard too, and they were ordering hand made teak wood which was of course brown with pretty texture and all. But I wasn't impressed by all those pretty teak wood look, instead I asked, "ok I want them all white." Which you think might be a little bit crazy since teak are not cheap and second they are best appreciated for their lovely wood texture. Guess I never liked those traditional look.

Cupboard Collage

In white I thing this cupboard look so much better, much fresher and not so Oma look. Here I keep all my hand painted china.....NOT. Just some of my Blond Amsterdam collection which I admit I didn't buy most of them myself. Instead I waited for my birthday or christmas then I would ask these stuff for my the gifts (yes here you can request gifts)

Dining Room Collage

Now let's go to the dining table, the table was of course again from IKEA and it's IKEA BJURSTA, what we really like from this table that we could fold it into 4 persons dining table when we don't really need it then tada we could open it into 6 persons dining table when we have more people around like in this picture.

Before all of you got bored of all IKEA stuff let me tell you that the chairs were not IKEA ^_^ They actually came from
Trendhopper (but sorry couldn't link to them, it seems they have such a lousy website :s). They were for sale 50% but they were purple........so we painted them blue....nice eh.

Tell me what do you think about the frame on top of the dining table, nice huh. We got it as a wedding present from a dear friend Mawar and her family in Belgium. I was already thinking about putting it there then I came with an idea to put togethet a food-related photos since the location is indeed above a dining table.

And that lampion was the same one from our wedding party decoration. We bought it online cheap from HongKong and I bet you some money that you wouldn't find the exact color here in Holland. I did try looking at some shop before looking online.

Living Room Collage

The TV-sofa spot which happens to be the cats fave spot as well. On normal day we would be sitting on the carpet on the floor while they happily sleep on the sofa T.T err why?

TV furniture was from
IKEA MAVAS, which was as you can see just enough to put the TV and all the games console and gadgets :s While the top white plank was IKEA EKBY which was fastened with IKEA EKBY BJARNUM.

I also love the glass coaster which you can personalized by inserting small photo inside it just like a frame. I bought it in
Xenos, a cheap home stuff store which you would love too.

Study Spot

Last but definitely not least; the study corner. Now since we got rid of the old cupboard which acted also as a computer table so we therefore needed a new one and this was from guess what another IKEA, maybe at this point all of you would be sick with IKEA word. So the computer table was IKEA HANNES and on top of it was IKEA SPONTAAN magnet board with some SPONTAAN magnet.

Then again we had the
IKEA EKBY plank which was fastened with IKEA EKBY BJARNUM. But not too worry, the file organizer in blue was not from IKEA but from HEMA. However that white basket was IKEA BRANAS and the letter organizer was IKEA DOKUMENT (aha now they were not that creative with the name..)

So there we showed you everything, hope it helps you how to pimp up your place the IKEA way (aka the cheap way). Next time maybe we would be doing another pimp in our new (not yet found) house. Keep your fingers crossed, hopefully we find one soon :)

Pimp The Livingroom Part I

I know I know some of you might lost interest by now due to too long waiting but here we are....Tada tada tada.......finally new look of the Livingroom. I would divide this post into two otherwise it would be way too long.....

One warning though, we were not sponsored by IKEA but yes most stuff did come from IKEA. But if you ask, why IKEA. It's very simple answer; cheap but yet modern, just the look we wanted but not necessarily unpersonal or cold. How to achieve that (according to us, you don't have to say yes or like what you see) read on.

So first I'll show you the before after look of the living room, part by part.

Part 1

This part by the window was where the dining table used to be. We got rid of that tired-looking dining set and the "retro" cupboard. Don't worry they were adopted by good people :P The cupboard was bought by a retro-looking-guy, saying that he had been looking for just exact looking cupboard for a while. Meanwhile the dining set was bought by some Turkish guy who also bought the coffee table.

So we sort of turned the living room around, as you can see here we moved the dining to the other side of the room and moved the tv-sofa spot here.

The coffe table was from
IKEA LACK, we immediately liked this one because it was white ^_^ not so big and most importantly cheap. This was actually our second one because it was not so nicely packed with cardboard but only with plastic (guess that's what you get with cheap coffee table). And only at home we saw that the table surface was like 5cm scratched so we had to go back and returned it. But return policy in IKEA or in Holland in general is always good, you just go there, say you don't want the stuff anymore or because it's broken and they would just give you a new stuff or money back.

Part 2

This side as you can see was where the Billy Bookcase used to be, but we moved that bookcase to the other side and used this spot as a sort of computer-office-spot where we put all the administration sh*t, important and not so important papers, notes and all the boring stuff.

Part 3

This part where the old-school retro looking cupboard used to be. No I didn't feel sorry we got rid of that, cupboard because it had been standing there the whole time and he didn't buy it (or any other furnitures that he ever owned).
Can you see the white laptop holder (jeez I don't know is this the right word for it). I really love that thing, it wouldnt make your lap too hot from the laptop and the laptop sits comfortably. That one was IKEA BRADA.

The painting on the wall was not actually a painting, it was a photo my brother took in Menjangan Island in the north of Bali. Then Peter photoshopped it a bit to make it look like a painting. Btw you should really go to Menjangan Island if you are into snorkeling, diving etc. It was just magnificent there, we surely wanted to go there again if we got the chance.

Are you also interested in that flowery balls painting on the wall. Many people were fooled into thinking that they were hand painted but they were not :p They were actually mural (wall) stickers I bought online from HongKong.....ahh I love stuff from HongKong (China), cheap, fast and cheap delivery but yet so many interesting stuff.

Part 4

This part was where the tv-sofa used to be and now we replaced it with three Billy Bookcases. One Billy I bought second hand at the thrift shop (charity shop) for some money and then we especially waited to buy the rest Billy when there was a special discount for them.

Part 5

And this part used to be where the coffee table and the tv were. The coffee table went to the same Turkish guy who had bought the dining set.
The lamp table was actually supposed to be for nightstand, but I thought it was cute and white ^_^ anyway it was IKEA ASPELUND (I still don't get it where did IKEA get all those weird names).

Part 6

This part was where the Oma cupboard used to be and now the tv furniture is standing proudly, just like 3cm over the wall just as you can see from the picture. We thought it would go over at least 7cm more, so we were happy that when we finally put it up it was just tiny bit over ^_^

Now let's go to the second part of this pimping business if you are still interested or just skip ;)
